Pirates, Hornets down in Jacksonville tonight for Week 2 play

Tonight, both of Nassau County’s east-side teams are down in Jacksonville. The Hornets, fresh off a dominating 42-14 win over Baldwin in Week 1, face the First Coast High School Buccaneers. The Buccs seek their first win of the season after falling to the Ribault Trojans in Week 1.

Hornets throttle Baldwin: Vazquez, freshmen trio efforts inspire 42-14 blowout

Yulee started the season the right way with an emphatic beatdown of Baldwin High, delivered by its dual-threat junior Tre Vazquez and standout performances from its freshman class.Vazquez, a former quarterback, ran for 89 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown, and caught seven passes for 73 yards.

Revamped Hornets tackle tough schedule

On the back of last year’s huge six-game swing from 2024 and a playoff appearance, the Yulee Hornets are raring to go with some new faces and a tough schedule.The Hornets blew their opponents away over the first seven games of the 2025 season, outscoring their foes 209-39.

Committed athletes bolster Lady Hornets golf program

The Lady Hornets golf team is loaded with multi-sport athletes who are showing up to the sport for the first time, and some are showing they are a “natural talent.”Head Coach of the girls golf team Crystyn Camp said the team kept themselves disciplined over the summer.

YHS cross country adds coach; focuses on team, individual growth

The Yulee High School cross country teams spent the summer on a tour of Nassau County’s east side, building endurance, eyeing a fall season of personal bests.

Hornets Drive ready to ride

Transportation around Yulee middle and high school will look a lot different this coming school year.The William Burgess Extension Project is officially complete, and Hornets Drive is set to open in the coming weeks.

Yulee youth ready to sting

Yulee summer sports programs are underway, using summer vacation to teach the school’s future athletes the tricks of the trade and to have fun. The Hornets wrapped up their three-day football camp last week.

Derrick Henry returns to Yulee for Two All Community Day

In the quiet Yulee Sports Complex gymnasium, volunteers shuffled in the bikes and toys as the line outside grew. On Saturday, Derrick Henry, the Yulee Hornet, Baltimore Ravens star running back and 2015 Heisman Trophy winner, came home.

Leaving the nest

As the new graduates took the stage at UNF Arena on Saturday to enter the next chapters of their lives, some whipped their phones out and waved to the energetic crowd. Others did a backflip, or in one case, a chest bump with Principal Bryan Alvare.
