Fernandina Beach was represented by three young skateboarders who competed Saturday and Sunday in the fourth annual Competitive Amateur Skateboard League National Championship at the Lake Havasu Skatepark in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Cadence Houser took sec-ond place in advanced girls bowl and third in advanced girls vertical.
Coco Waldo took first in advanced girls verti-cal, third in advanced girls bowl and third in advanced girls street. Her sister, Primrose Waldo, also com-peted, “following in our local Olympian Poe Pinson’s footsteps,” said Waldemar “Wally” Borrero, president of Friends of Fernandina Beach Skatepark. “That the skills they have garnered is from their committed parents, who take them to Jacksonville to practice. Their dedication and inspi-ration come from the fact that they have an Olympian here locally to look up to.”
