Nassau County voters came out for the 2024 general election, with more than half casting their ballot early.
Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Janet Adkins said 40,271 Nassau County voters voted early, just under 52%. Adkins told the News-Leader less than two hours into election day that more than 70% of voters in Nassau County had already cast their ballot.
“The precinct with the highest percentage turnout on Election Day only (not considering vote by mail and early voting) is 43-Bryceville Community Center with 13% turnout on election day. Their overall turnout (including vote by mail and early voting) is 74%,” Adkins said on election day. “The overall highest performing precinct for the 2024 General Election is 21 – American Beach Community Center with approximately 85% turnout.”
Adkins said 13,400 vote by mail ballots had received as of Tuesday morning.
While there have been national stories of poll workers being harassed, Adkins said her office had received had no reports of harassment of poll workers or voters in the county.
The first set of preliminary election results will include all early voting and vote by mail ballots that were canvassed on October 31 or earlier. There were approximately 2,000 ballots to be canvassed on election day.
“I am thrilled to see Nassau County voters turn out to vote,” Adkins said last week. “Nearly 15,000 voters cast their ballot during our first three days of early voting. We now have 55% voter turnout, one of the highest turnout rates in Florida. I am grateful for our wonderful staff and election workers who are working tirelessly to serve voters.”
