Hundreds of people gathered to watch a giant shrimp covered in lights fall from the sky as part of the annual tradition to welcome a new year, the New Year’s Even Shrimp Drop.
A unique local tradition, locals and visitors alike gathered along the riverfront in downtown Fernandina Beach (North Front Street) as part of an annual tradition.
The celebration included live music, food vendors, family-friendly festivities as crowds gathered to enjoy Amelia Island’s own unique “shrimp-sized” take on the Times Square Ball Drop.
