The season came to an end on their home field Tuesday, when the Pirates lost to Wolfson 6-2 in a Region 1-3A quarterfinal matchup.

The Fernandina Beach High School baseball team, which won 19 games in a row before its loss in the district championship game to Providence, ends its season with a 21-5 record.

Wolfson avenged its 7-2 loss to the Pirates in the District 3-3A semifinal round with Tuesday’s victory.

FBHS struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the third inning. Wolfson answered with two in the top of the fourth. The Pirates scored one more in the bottom of the inning to even the score at 2-2.

The game went into an extra inning, and Wolfson scored four runs in the top of the eighth for the win.

Pirate batter collected six hits on the night. Jamieson Keith had two, and Ryan Demario (double), Xavier Hutton-Corp (triple), Sam Simonds and Tyler Gillette had one hit apiece. Gage Dickerson had an RBI.

Cooper Ryan started on the mound. He gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits, walked one and struck out four in four innings. Wes Parsons went three innings, giving up two runs on one hit, walking one and striking out four.

Caden Hartman gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit, walked one and struck out one in the eighth. 

Wolfson takes on top-seed Providence at 7 p.m. tonight. Bolles and Trinity Catholic battle in the other Region 1-3A semifinal game. Winners play in the region championship game on Tuesday.
