The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office provided an update on recent “Operation Spring Cleaning,” which took place between the months of February and March 2024.
“Many of these individuals we apprehended had outstanding warrants or were involved in major cases related to incidents we've been diligently working. This operation allowed us to successfully close many of these open investigations,” said a release from Sheriff Bill Leeper’s office.
The crimes range from grand theft to drug trafficking, illegal credit card skimming operations, sexual battery of a child and even attempted murder charges.
“If you follow our social media pages you may have already seen many of these mugshots,” said the release.
An example of one of the crimes within “Operation Spring Cleaning,” involved a brutal attack on a woman that Dennis McCabe lived with over a dispute about utility bills.
“That vicious assault nearly cost the victim her life,” continued the release.
“We also arrested Michael Shipes last month on charges of sexual battery against a victim under 12 years old - a truly sickening crime. Shelly Crider and Kelsey Caudill were taken into custody for selling methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a church,” continued details of the law enforcement operation.
“Our Criminal Investigations Division and Narcotics Unit went above and beyond, putting in tremendous effort to resolve these difficult cases and remove dangerous criminals from our streets,” said Leeper. “My top priority is ensuring Nassau County remains a safe community where our residents can raise their families without fear. We will not tolerate such reprehensible criminal activity.”
Sheriff Leeper urges all citizens if you see something suspicious, please report it immediately to the Nassau County Sheriff's Office at 904-225-5174, or call the First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
“Working together, we can keep our neighborhoods safe and secure. Stay safe Nassau,” said Leeper.
