Walker Alan Rushton, 21, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Monday, March 23, 2020 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Walker was born September 4, 1998 in Macon, Ga. and moved to Fernandina Beach in July 2000. He graduated from Fernandina Beach High School, Class of 2017. In high school, he played on the football and wrestling teams and loved the culinary arts. Walker was an avid reader, loved to write, cook, watch anime, and play video games. He was always searching for more knowledge. His smile and personality lit up any room he entered. Walker’s gift in life was to make everyone laugh and feel special and loved.

He worked for Tasty’s Fresh Burgers and Fries in Fernandina Beach for many years as well as the Humane Society and was most recently employed with Lagniappe restaurant in Fernandina Beach.

Walker is survived by his mother, Jackie Barnes Rushton of Fernandina Beach; father, Jerry Rushton of Fernandina Beach; two brothers, Korey Barnes of Fernandina Beach and Dallas Barnes (Jessica) of Callahan, Fla.; one sister, Rachelle Rushton; two nieces and two nephews in Batesville, Ark.; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; wonderful extended family and friends; and his loving dog, Loki.

Services will be held at Christwalk Church on Bailey Road in Fernandina Beach. The time and day will be announced after the current public health emergency has been lifted.
