Sharon Johnson Jones
Sharon Johnson Jones, 68, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., passed away December 13, 2019 at home.
Sharon was born in Waycross, Ga. and moved to Rocky Mount, N.C. with her family as a young child. They relocated again to Florida in 1962 as a result of her father’s transfer with Atlantic Coastline Railroad and settled in Fernandina Beach, Fla. in 1967. Sharon graduated from Fernandina Beach High school in 1969 and attended Chipola Community College in Florida. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fernandina.
She had a lifelong career in hospitality and banking in Georgia, Puerto Rico, and Florida. She had recently retired from JP Morgan Chase.
Sharon was preceded in death by her two sons, Demery Patton Paulk (age 3) and Joshua William Jones (age 37); her parents, Winifred Wildes and Isaac Demery Johnson; and her younger brother, Jeffrey Joseph Johnson.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Demery Johnson (Elaine) of Dallas, Ga.; sister, Dalana Wildes Johnson of Tallahassee, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Janis Johnson of Fernandina Beach; along with nieces, Amanda “Mandy” Couch (John) of Kennesaw, Ga., Kimberly Sullivan ( Paul) of Greer, S.C., Amber Grabowski (Chad) of Copperhill, Tenn., and Amelia Neuhofer (Jake) of Jacksonville, Fla.; nephew, Aaron Johnson of Fernandina Beach, and close family friend, Ellen Sloyer. Sharon was blessed with eight grandnieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Sharon and looked forward to her visits.
She was an avid Georgia football fan and movie aficionado. She loved to discuss both topics with anyone willing and interested! She really knew her information!
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
