Loretta H. Andera
Loretta H. Andera died peacefully Feb. 16, 2021, in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Loretta was born Jan. 15, 1930, to Earl and Ruby Hall in Wales Center, N.Y. After high school, Loretta graduated from cosmetology school and worked at her own salon until she retired.
Loretta married and had two children, Elaine and Scott. Several years after the death of her husband, she met and married the love of her life, Ed Andera, on June 3, 1960, and together with his children, Jerry and Sally, they formed a new family. Their house was filled with kids, vicious card and croquet games, and a lot of love and laughter.
Thirty years later, Loretta and Ed retired and moved to Fernandina Beach, Fla. Loretta volunteered at the local hospital and was actively involved with her investment group, quilting guild, prayer group at church and dancing with Ed until he passed away four years later. She remained very active the last 27 years until her health declined. Loretta loved her flowers, reading, playing cards with the ladies on Friday afternoons, walking the beach collecting shells and sharks’ teeth, and most of all, her family. She was their rock. Her sense of humor, love for all her kids, love of friends and faith in God will be greatly missed by all who knew her. (Not to mention her pies!)
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Stephen and Edward Andera; son, Jerry Andera; and grandson, Todd Almeter.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine “Sophie” Kolb; son, Scott Adams (Barbara); daughter, Sara “Sally” Cochran (RV); daughter-in-law, Pam Andera (Jerry); grandchildren, Katy Ericson (Tom), Valerie Almeter Fletcher (Todd), Trent Almeter, Aimee Dayment (Scott), Trista Reisdorf (Andy), Melissa Eichenseer (Gene), Steven Rhoads (Chelsie) and Jarett Rhoads (Jennifer); 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild due in April.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Loretta’s name to Community Hospice & Palliative Care, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Loretta and Ed are dancing again in heaven.
