Veteran’s History Luncheon
The Amelia Island Museum of History, in partnership with GFWC Woman’s Club of Fernandina Beach, will present a Veteran’s History Project Luncheon on Tuesday, March 15. Lunch will be provided by the GFWC Woman’s Club, followed by a special presentation by honored guest, Major Frank Towers.
Towers trained at Camp Blanding in 1941, as a member of the 43rd Infantry Division. Transferred to the 120th Regiment, 30th Infantry Div., 1st Lt. Towers and his unit landed at Normandy on June 13th, 1944.His division was part of the Battle of the Bulge, and in 1945 men from the 30th Div. (including Towers) and the 743rd intercepted a train from the concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen, with 2,500 Jewish prisoners on board.  Major Powers will discuss his experiences at Normandy and at the Battle of the Bulge.
Tickets are currently available for purchase at the Amelia Island Museum of History, 233 S. Third St. Tickets are $30 per person, limited quantity available.
