Saturday morning fire destroys home, leaves two injured

A house fire early Saturday morning on South Fifth Street in Fernandina Beach destroyed a mobile home and left two adults injured. Tim Oliver, the owner of the home at 1315 South Fifth St., Lot 9, was transported to the UF Health Burn Center in Gainesville for treatment according to his mother, Gail Oliver, who was at the home Saturday afternoon. She was attempting to salvage what she could from what appeared to be a total loss. A next door neighbor said a female friend of Oliver knocked on the neighbor's door around 3 a.m. asking her to call 911. According to the neighbor, Oliver's friend broke her arm in the aftermath and was transported to Baptist Medical Center Nassau. A pet dog and two cats survived the blaze. Donations can be sent to 95315 Leo Drive, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
