Man shot in Nassauville
An 18-year-old Yulee man was shot while traveling in a car that was northbound on Owens Road in the Nassauville area at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to a report from the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary reports on Thursday said that the man who was shot was driving the car, but the written report today said the man was a passenger in a red 2012 Ford Fusion.
The 18-year-old driver, from Fernandina Beach, told law enforcement officials that he saw an “older red car traveling behind them and then heard a pop and the back window shattered.”
“Apparently a bullet came through the back window and struck the right front passenger… in the back,” according to the report.
The driver then drove the passenger to Baptist Medical Center Nassau in Fernandina Beach, where the passenger was treated and released.
The “older red car” was last seen near Old Nassauville Road and Mobley Heights Road.
Investigating officers inspecting the Ford Fusion in the hospital parking lot on Thursday. The car had bullet holes on the very top right corner of the rear windshield and above the right front tire. Additionally, the rear right tire was flat.
