Celebrate freedom with free events this weekend in Fernandina Beach
On Friday: The Sounds on Centre concert and dance downtown starts at 6p
Flipturn, a local five-piece indie rock garage band will perform.
Sounds on Centre is a free, family friendly concernt and street dancing event presented by the Historic Fernandina Business Association as a thank to the community.
Sounds on Centre is located at the intersection of Second Street and Centre Street downtown. Shows are from 6p-8p.
On Monday: Community First Credit Union presents Light Up Amelia’s Hometown 4th of July Celebration
Community First Credit Union is joining forces once again with the Light Up Amelia Committee to bring a fireworks show to downtown Fernandina Beach on Monday evening.
Pat Gass, president of the Light Up Amelia Committee, has been working with the city of Fernandina Beach, local businesses and citizens to pull the resources together to bring this event to the public.
Other contributions have come from West Rock, VyStar, the city of Fernandina Beach and the Amelia Island Tourist Development Council.
Schedule of events on Monday night:
6 p.m. - Kid’s Zone and arts and crafts vendors.
6 p.m. - Patriotic Pet Contest.
7 p.m. - Patriotic Bike Contest.
7:45 p.m. - Music by the Nassau County Community Band.
9 p.m. – Fireworks over the river.
