Interfaith prayer walk
Several area churches will sponsor a prayer walk Saturday, Feb. 13, that will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 Atlantic Ave. It will then go to New Zion Baptist Missionary Church, 10 S. 10th St., at 10 a.m.; St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 801 Atlantic Ave., at 10:30 a.m.; Memorial United Methodist Church, 601 Centre St., at 11 a.m.; St. Michael Catholic Church, 505 Broome St., at 11:30 a.m.; and will conclude at First Presbyterian Church, 9 N. Sixth St., at noon, where a lunch of soup and bread will be served after the service. A short ecumenical service at each church will include scripture, song and a message highlighting the theme of this year’s worldwide Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, “Called to Proclaim the Mighty Acts of the Lord.” The community is invited to join all or part of the walk. There is no cost, but participants can donate a nonperishable food item that Salvation Army Hope House will use for the Interfaith Dinner Network program. For more information, contact the individual churches or Jan Smith at 261-3677.
