Caregiver Support Group Special Event
Caregiver Support Group
Taking care of a loved one isn’t easy and often the caregiver’s own emotional and physical well-being takes a back seat to the needs of the one who depends so heavily on them. On Thursday, March 24, from 2-4 p.m., the Nassau County Council on Aging will host a special event to help caregivers learn strategies to better balance their lives.
The NCCOA Caregiver Support Group’s fifth annual special event, to be held in the NCCOA Senior Life Center, 1367 South 18th St., Fernandina Beach, will feature renowned author and aging facilitator Barbara Bruce, who teaches caregivers strategies to help them care for themselves. Bruce’s two-part presentation will include “It’s a Matter of Balance” and “Laughter is the Best Medicine” offering tried and tested methods for alleviating the physical and emotional stress that often results from caring for a loved one.
The event is free and open to the public. For information or to make a reservation, call Debra Dombkowski, LPN at 261-0701, ext. 113.
