Art On Centre invites the public to Artrageous Artwalk from 5:30-8:30 p.m., Saturday, June 11. Sara Conca will be the featured artist. Conca is a contemporay artist of Native American and French-Italian descent. Her paintings can be found in chateaus and hotel lobbies in France, as well as in many exclusive celebrity homes and museums.
At the Blue Door Studios during this Saturday’s Artrageous Artwalk, local artist Theresa Daily, best known for her colorful watercolors and abstract acrylic paintings, will be exhibiting works from her recent venture into the world of alcohol ink. The pieces on display will include beach and water scenes, pastoral landscapes and intriguing explosions of vibrant shapes, created on a variety of surfaces.
In addition to Daily’s collection, ink pieces created by other artists whose galleries are also housed at the Blue Door can be viewed along with the eclectic art of the painters, weaver and jeweler who can be found up the stairs at 205-1/2 Centre St. in downtown Fernandina. Artwalk hours are June 11 from 5-8 p.m. and the studios are open daily, except for Sundays, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Amelia SanJon Gallery has acquired some really beautiful vintage copper and silver pieces of Estate jewelry to add to Sandra Baker-Hinton’s Vintage (mostly copper) Jewelry Collection. A beautiful probably never to be seen again bracelet just arrived, and although it is unsigned, still has the original “Genuine Copper” tag stuck to its backside, proving how little it was worn. Vintage copper jewelry is not only collectable, it was created in a time when craftsmanship and style were truly cherished assets. This piece with its Art Deco design was obviously someone’s treasured keepsake about 60 years ago.
Annie Hall-Hines, who has recently joined Sandra Baker-Hinton in the studio/gallery space of Amelia SanJon Gallery, has been really producing some fine pieces of art work in the previous month. Her interests in painting are as varied as Baker-Hinton’s. Each has an interest in painting nature sometimes from very different perspectives. Hall-Hines’ animal portraits lovingly portray the faces of animals captured and treasured by their owners forever. Hall-Hines works in acrylic, Encaustic and leather. Baker-Hinton works in a variety of mediums also ranging from jewelry, fused glass to all sorts of water media in both watercolor and acrylic.
